Joseph David Wolfgang Pichler was a 19-year-old man who was last heard from at 4:15am on the 5th of January 2006, when he talked to one of his friends on his phone.
Joseph’s car, a silver 2005 Toyota Corella, was discovered on the 9th of January 2006 near the intersection of Wheaton Way and Sheridan Road in Bremerton, Washington, which is where Joseph was living at the time. All of Joseph’s personal belongings were left behind when he went missing, apart from his car keys and wallet. Joseph’s apartment was left unlocked and with all the lights on, which was very unlike him.
Joseph left some poetry indicating that he was feeling depressed, stating that he wished he had been a “stronger brother” to his younger brother, and asked that his brother should be given his belongings. However, there is no strong evidence that Joseph took his own life and the writing that he left behind did not explicitly state that he was feeling suicidal. The friends who saw Joseph last said that he was in good spirits the last time they spoke to him.
The police believe that Joseph took his own life by jumping off a bridge into the Port Madison Narrows, which were located just half a mile from where his car was found. But the search dogs were unable to trace Joseph’s scent to the bridge.
Joseph’s family do not believe that he died by suicide and says that he was not depressed or suicidal at the time he went missing. They believe that Joseph met with foul play.
Joseph was a child actor and began acting at the age of 6. He was in many commercials and TV shows and had significant roles in some movies including; The Fan, Children on their Birthday, and the third and fourth movies in the Beethoven series.
At the time of his disappearance, Joseph had given up acting and had taken up a full-time job as a telephone technician at Teletech. He was living in Bremerton, and whilst he had his own apartment he would regularly visit his family’s home. He was planning on moving back to Los Angeles to continue his acting career once his braces had been removed, a plan that his family supported him with.
Joseph is described as being a white male, 6″2′ and 170lbs. He had light brown hair and green/hazel eyes, and at the time he went missing Joseph was wearing metal orthodontic braces with black rubber bands on the top teeth only as the lower braces had already been removed. He also has a red, circular tattoo of a Star Wars emblem on the inside of his right forearm and a small scar across the bridge of his nose. He would also go by the nicknames Joe or Josie.
Joseph is allergic to dust mites, cats, dogs, birds and many other outdoor things. He would usually carry an albuterol inhaler for his allergies but he did not have it with him at the time of his disappearance.
Joseph was last known to be wearing a brown t-shirt, jeans, and a white metal Nixon The Rotolog Real Wood Watch on his left wrist. Joseph would most often wear t-shirts, loose-fitting jeans, boxer shorts, sneakers, baseball caps, and an animal skin belt. He is size 34 in jeans and 11.5/12 in shoes.
If Joseph is still alive today, he would be 35 years old.
