Pearl Jean Francis Pinson

On the 25th of May, 2016, 15-year-old Pearl Pinson was last seen in Vallejo, California walking to the school bus stop shortly before 7:00am. A witness then saw an armed Hispanic male, who was later identified as 19-year-old Fernando Castro, dragging Pearl across a pedestrian overpass along Interstate 780 near Taylor Avenue. Pearl’s face was bloody and she was screaming for help, and the witness reported hearing at least one gunshot.

The witness called 911, but by the time the police arrived there was no sign of Pearl or her abductor. The only evidence authorities found was a bloodstain and Pearl’s mobile phone on the overpass.

At 9:30am that same morning, just 2.5 hours after Pearl had last been seen, Fernando Castro was spotted driving his gold four-door 1997 Saturn in the area of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard close to the San Rafael Bridge in Marin County, California. The license plate of the car was 5XZD385.

That afternoon, Fernando was spotted driving again but this time he was in San Luis Obispo County, California. Officers with the Highway Patrol and the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office chased his vehicle into Santa Barbara County. It was here that a shootout between Fernando and Police took place, and Fernando was killed. He was killed over 300 miles away from where Pearl had been taken that morning.

At the time of his death, Pearl was not with him. Pearl has not been seen or heard from since the 25th of May 2016, and her whereabouts are unknown.

Fernando had a minor criminal history, but it didn’t include crimes such as kidnapping or stalking. There were also some reports that Pearl and Fernando were dating, but these turned out to be false as authorities couldn’t find any evidence of the pair having any contact with each other either through social media or in person.

When police searched his car, they did find some of Pearl’s blood in the boot. However, the police said that the amount of blood found was not large enough to suggest that Pearl had died or suffered a major injury.

Some have theorised that Pearl became the victim of sex trafficking, however, investigators have not been able to find any evidence to support this theory. In fact, they haven’t found any evidence that anyone aside from Fernando was involved with Pearl’s abduction.

The police have stated that they are unsure if Pearl is alive or dead, but the more time that progresses the less likely it is that Pearl would be found alive. If she is alive, Pearl may be in need of medical care.

Pearl is described as being a white female, standing at 5″3′ and weighing 130lbs. She has light brown hair that was dyed green at the time of her abduction, blue/green eyes and a piercing on the left side of her lower lip. She was wearing black leggings/sweatpants, a grey sweater/sweatshrit, a black and white zip-up jacket, pink, black and white Nike Turfs shoes, and a black Raiders beanie cap. Pearl was also carrying a black and turquoise backpack with a Joker emblem on it.

If Pearl is still alive today, she would be 21 years old.
