Bedgebury Forest Woman is the name given to an unidentified woman who was found deceased in Bedgebury Forest, located in Kent, England. Her body was found on the 23rd of October 1979, and it is estimated she had died just days before being found.
Jane Doe had died from a beating, and the police did manage to charge a man with her murder, but the man was later cleared in connection to Jane Doe’s murder.
Jane Doe is described as a white female between the ages of 30 and 35. She was between 5’1″ and 5’11” tall and was of a slim build but her exact weight is unknown. She had brown eyes, shoulder-length straight dark brown hair and prominent teeth. She also had stretch marks on her stomach which indicates that she likely had given birth at some point during her life, and she had previously had an ectopic pregnancy.
Jane Doe was found wearing black shoes, a black and white floral dress, a black polo-neck sweater and a yellow blouse.
Detectives believe that the woman was a regular hitchhiker and have no fixed address, possibly coming from the North of England. There is also a theory that the woman was a prostitute who operated from the Spitalfields of central London.
Bedgebury Forest Woman’s true identity has never been recovered.
