Lauren Elizabeth Thompson was a 32-year-old woman who had three children. She lived in Rockhill, Texas.
At 2:04pm on the 10th of January 2019, Lauren called her mother in a panicked and frantic tone. She asked to speak to her children, but they weren’t there at the time. She asked her mother to tell her children, and her father, that she loved them and that she was sorry. She also said that if she got out of this, she would never use drugs again. Her mother has said that she heard a man talking in the background of the phone call.
At 2:24pm, Lauren then called 911. In her call, she sounded disorientated and kept telling them that she was in the woods, someone was chasing her and that she was being shot at. The call lasted around 20 minutes before Laren’s phone died. This was the last time anyone heard from Lauren.
Police were dispatched to the area, and they managed to find Lauren’s car in a ditch just west of Rockhill, off the FM 1794. At first, they thought she had just crashed, but a closer look at her vehicle showed paint transfer between her car and another car makes investigators believe she was run off the road.
Three people saw Lauren on the day she disappeared. One of them has since passed away.
One person said that they had been fishing in the area and that he was in the car when Thompson crashed it into the ditch. He told her that he was going to walk home to get another vehicle to help pull the car out of the ditch, but she ran into the woods.
As of 2021, Lauren’s case remains open but unsolved. No trace of Lauren, apart from her car, has ever been found.
